Qualifications Mr. Schostag has conducted business analysis, valuations, and deal structuring for about 30 years. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (American Institute of Research and Management – AIMR), a Master Certified Business Appraiser (MCBA) (Institute of Business Appraisers – IBA), and an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) (American Society of Appraisers - ASA). He considers those designations his primary credentials. In addition, Mr. Schostag has earned the designation of Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) and the designation of Business Valuator Accredited for Litigation (BVAL) from IBA. Mr. Schostag is a member of ASA, IBA, AIMR, and NACVA, the leading industry associations. He is also a member of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). He has completed the mandatory 30-hour mediation training from U.S. Arbitration and Mediation of Minnesota, and is qualified neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice by The Supreme Court of Minnesota ADR Program for the civil facilitative/hybrid neutrals roster. Mr. Schostag has been a principal of a small, regional valuation firm, and he has also been director of research and corporate finance for two regional investment banking firms. He has published a weekly investment newsletter; provided analytical support for retail brokers, traders and management; conducted underwriting due diligence; and prepared business valuations, fairness opinions and solvency reviews. Mr. Schostag has been a vice president and general manager of a commercial bank and a venture capital firm, and he was a cofounder of a national, retail children’s clothing manufacturing company. Mr. Schostag has provided litigation support on valuation matters, including working with court panels, bench report submissions, and expert testimony. He has also been a plaintiff in a valuation damages matter which required mediation, arbitration, and federal district court, and appeals. Mr. Schostag has completed multiple valuation/consulting engagements for estate settlements and gift transactions, employee stock ownership plans, buy/sell agreements, merger/acquisition transactions, shareholder oppression and other disputes, and management buyouts.
